Mr. Padval currently serves as a Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners. Prior to joining Bessemer in September 2007, Mr. Padval served as Executive Vice President, Consumer Products at LSI Logic Corporation. Prior to his promotion to Executive Vice President, Consumer Products, Mr. Padval was senior vice president and general manager for LSI Logic's Broadband Entertainment Division, a position he held since 2001. Mr. Padval served as Chief Executive Officer of C-Cube from 2000-2001, as President of C-Cube from 1998-2000 and a member of the C-Cube board of directors from 1998-2001. Previously, Mr. Padval was senior vice president and general manager of the Consumer Digital Entertainment Division at VLSI Technology, Inc. Mr. Padval also served as senior vice president and general manager for VLSI's Computing Division. Before joining VLSI in 1984, Mr. Padval held marketing and engineering positions at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Mr. Padval also serves as a member of the board of directors of Silicon Image and Integrated Device Technology. He received a bachelor's degree in Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and an M.S. in engineering from Pennsylvania State University and Stanford University.
President, Silicon Laboratories
Mr. Bock brings to Entropic's Board a wealth of semiconductor sector, corporate leadership and board experience. In June 2013, he was promoted from Silicon Labs’ interim CFO and board member to president. Prior to joining Silicon Labs, Mr. Bock was a partner at venture capital firms CenterPoint Ventures and Verity Ventures. He also served as president and chief executive officer of Dazel Corporation, a provider of electronic information delivery systems, which was later acquired by Hewlett-Packard. Mr. Bock also held the position of executive vice president and chief operating officer of Tivoli Systems, a client server software company, which he helped take public in 1995, and was later acquired by IBM. Prior to Tivoli, Mr. Bock successfully completed an IPO at Convex Computer Corporation as chief financial officer, and spent nine-years in key finance roles at Texas Instruments. In addition to his role on Entropic's Board, Mr. Bock is a director of Silicon Labs (Nasdaq:SLAB), Borderfree, Inc. (Nasdaq:BRDR) and private companies SailPoint Technologies, UnboundID, FiftyOne and Worksoft. He has also served previously as a director of Convio, Inc., which was recently acquired by Blackbaud Inc. Mr. Bock holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from Iowa State University and a master's degree in industrial administration from Carnegie Mellon University.
Ted Tewksbury, Ph.D.
Interim President & CEO, Entropic
Dr. Ted Tewksbury is Entropic’s interim president and chief executive officer. With thirty years of broad-based semiconductor industry leadership and significant boardroom experience, Ted is responsible for setting the Company’s strategic vision and provides guidance on all key business initiatives to ensure strength in the Company’s execution. As CEO, Ted works closely with Entropic’s executive team and Board of Directors to oversee the Company’s ongoing operations, including the ongoing review of strategic alternatives.
Ted was named to the interim position in November 2014 and has served on Entropic’s board of directors since September 2010. Ted is an experienced public company board member, CEO and turnaround specialist with a proven track record of building and leading successful teams, visionary new products and growth businesses. Ted is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Device Technology, Inc., where he led the company's transformation into a premier analog-intensive mixed-signal company specializing in system-level solutions for communications infrastructure, enterprise computing and mobility. More recently he served as an independent consultant to various private equity firms and technology companies. Earlier in his career, Ted held several executive management positions, including President and Chief Operating Officer of AMI Semiconductor, General Manager and Managing Director at Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. as well as various management and engineering positions at IBM Microelectronics and Analog Devices.
Dr. Tewksbury has published more than 10 papers and has achieved numerous "Industry Firsts" and awards.
He received his bachelor's degree, master's degree, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Kenneth A. Merchant, Ph.D.
Deloitte & Touche LLP Chair of Accountancy, University of Southern California
Dr. Merchant holds the Deloitte & Touche LLP Chair of Accountancy at the University of Southern California (USC), and currently teaches in USC's M.B.A., Executive M.B.A. and undergraduate accounting programs. He has also served as Senior Associate Dean-Corporate Programs in USC's Marshall School of Business and as Dean of USC's Leventhal School of Accounting. Dr. Merchant is also a part-time research professor at the University of Maastricht, The Netherlands. Before joining USC, he taught at Harvard University and the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Merchant started his professional career at Texas Instruments, Inc., and Ernst & Young. He has also worked as a freelance consultant/teacher for many organizations including Amgen, Arco, AT&T, British Airways, Campbell Soup, Digital Equipment, IBM, McGraw-Hill, Novellus Systems, Philip Morris International, Tektronix, Toyota U.S.A. and World Bank. He has served or is currently serving as a director of Diagnostic Products Corporation (DP), Universal Guardian Holdings, Inc. (UGHO) and John Laing Homes. Dr. Merchant has a doctorate in accounting from the University of California, Berkeley, a M.B.A. in operations research and production from Columbia University, New York, and a bachelor's degree in industrial economics from Union College, New York.
Keith E. Bechard
Owner, Pear Lake Consulting LLC
Mr. Bechard brings over 30 years of experience in cable television, information systems and communications technology to Entropic Communications. As owner of Pear Lake Consulting, Mr. Bechard currently serves as executive advisor to Canoe Ventures LLC, and previously served as executive advisor to PolyCipher, both of which are cable industry joint ventures owned by Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and other major cable MSOs. He has acted as a consultant to cable related businesses, including Vidiom Systems, Adelphia Communications and Ceon. Bechard has served as a member of various technical advisory boards including Midstream Technologies and ManyStreams, Inc. Prior to starting his consulting firm, Mr. Bechard served as vice president of video product engineering for AT&T Broadband, responsible for deploying advanced digital set tops and launching systems to provide Interactive television services. Prior to AT&T Broadband, he held key positions at MediaOne Labs, developing strategies for video-on-demand, high-definition television and all digital networks. He has also held positions with U S WEST.
Mr. Bechard holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Colorado.
Retired Semiconductor Executive and Independent Venture Investor
Mr. Bailey is a retired semiconductor executive. He served as the Chairman of PMC-Sierra, Inc., a leading provider of broadband communications and storage semiconductor technologies from May 2005 until May 2011 and from February 2000 until February 2003. He was a director of PMC-Sierra from October 1996 to May 2011 and served as their President and Chief Executive Officer from July 1997 to May 2008. Mr. Bailey served as President, Chief Executive Officer and director of PMC-Sierra, Ltd., PMC's Canadian operating subsidiary, from December 1993 to July 1997. Mr. Bailey was previously employed by AT&T-Microelectronics (now known as Agere Systems) from August 1989 to November 1993, where he served as Vice President and General Manager. Prior to that, he held various management positions at Texas Instruments from June 1979 to August 1989. Mr. Bailey is also a director of Micron Technology, Inc., a provider of advanced semiconductor memory solutions.
Mr. Bailey was named "CEO of the Year" by Electronic Business in 1999, and was ranked as one of the "Top Ten CEOs of 2000" by Investor's Business Daily. He received a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Bridgeport, and received a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Dallas. He also attended Stanford Business School's AEA Executive Training.
