Overview

Entropic’s PNX8400 is a 45nm broadcast integrated SoC, featuring superior video and audio quality and capabilities. The multi-format HD PIP function enables two HD streams decoding and viewing at the same time for advanced media and video processing.

With its ARM® Cortex™-A9 core and software elements that include Adobe™  Flash®  Player 10.1 from Adobe Systems, Qt4.7/WebKit, HTML5, DTCP-IP, and DLNA Certified®  1.5 Media Renderer the solution is focused on enabling best A/V experiences.

Additional with flexible content decoding through a Trimedia processor, the PNX8400 ensures compatibility with on-line video on demand (VOD) and over-the-top (OTT) services. The platform also supports the Google Android® operating system.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Computational power provided by a 500MHz ARM® Cortex™-A9 processor core, which runs a Linux 2.6 kernel
  • All AV decode and video operations take place in one of the 6 dedicated SoC co-processors enabling the core processor to be available for customer application use
  • Advanced system supports video decoders: MPEG2 decode (up to 1080i with ATSC or DVB profiles); MPEG4 ASP level 5; H264 High profile level 4 as well as the corresponding audio formats including MP3 and AAC for optimized A/V functionality. Other decoders are possible (VC1, AVS, MVC, etc.) but not included in the standard package
